The Gloaming by Kathy Brown
Oil & Cold Wax on Cradled Board
40x30
I have a strong affinity for nature and create in response to my emotional connection to the beauty of the natural world. After my only child passed away in 1983, I found that tapping into that creativity as well as communing with nature gave me great solace and comfort. I especially loved sitting outside in the evening, watching the fireflies and stars emerge to dot the landscape with their special lights. This fleeting sliver of time, when the night meets the day, is known as “The Gloaming.” To this day, it still fills me with a sense of peace, wonderment and awe, and for a brief moment allows me to touch the face of The Divine.
