The Authentic Woman by Roya Jenner
Mixed Media (Mixed media acrylic, modeling paste, torn paper & tissue)
18x24
My work is a form of abstract expressionism as an outward reaction to religion not protecting me as a child. Using a limited palette, acrylic paints, modeling paste, collage and found materials—I paint and adhere on my canvas according to my plan and intuition. The words in this piece came from the Recovery Tree in the ACA ‘Twelve Steps of Adult Children’ workbook. While taking back control, I emphasized my own religious freedom and independence as an adult by removing the religious context.
