I love to be outside in nature. There is such comfort there for me. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful, inspirational surroundings. The ocean and Long Island Sound, the farm lands out east, the vineyards, and the forest are all subjects that I use in my paintings. I strive to focus on color and light, and often refer back to works of the Impressionists and how they created light within their work, and why they chose the colors they did. I study the compositions and how all of these parts combined create such movement and feeling in their masterpieces. My work becomes the challenge, resulting in the answer and understanding of how these elements of art and principles of design work together to capture simple moments within my paintings.
 
About Laura DiLeone:
Laura DiLeone is a local artist from Setauket, New York.

Her works are mainly inspired by the landscape of Long Island. She currently lives on Long Island and continues her paintings in studio and en Plein Air. She studied at The Art Institute of Boston and continued her career as an Elementary Art Teacher. She is currently working as an Author and Illustrator of a children's book about the sea life of Long Island.
