This sculptural art piece is viewer-interactive. One must follow the instructions on the box top, turn the light on & place their eye in front of the eyepiece to see within. Connecting with viewer immersion is a high point for me. The work of Kusama was the inspiration. Her infinity boxes are other worldly and just for that 1 minute given to be inside infinity, it is forever changing and unforgettable. As humans, we all have two sides. Our shadow and our light. This art piece captures that, and I wanted our inner light to come through as soulful, within our core. Enjoy the experience.
About Julianna Kirk:
Julianna Kirk has established herself as a practicing glass artist on Long Island. She has a degree in Art Education and, beyond her Master's, has studied with many master glass artists. That inspiration had her reach higher ground with her glass fusing. Her work process includes proficiency in several media, but she regards glass as primary.
Kirk taught drawing, painting, and crafts for 30 years while exhibiting continually during that time. Post retirement, she had continued to teach. The Art League of Long Island, Gallery North, Suffolk BOCES Arts in Ed. program, Long Island libraries, local art organizations, and her home studio.
She shows locally and regionally, gathering many awards for her art. She has shown at: Salmagundi Club, Taipei Institute, Urban Glass Center, 92nd Street Y, Society of Illustrators, Silvermine Art Center, Nat. Assoc. of Women Artists, Reboli Art Center, Workhouse Art Center, WAH Art Center, Art League of LI, Huntington Art Council & many others. Gallery North and Huntington Art Center currently represent her work.
She is currently on the board of the LI Craft Guild and the Bay Area Friends of Fine Arts. She is retired from the board of Women Sharing Art.
