Donna Pace has always loved to sing – she says it is part of her soul. Believing that God had blessed her with the gift of music, Donna has always felt compelled to share her talent with the community.

Donna has sung with so many wonderful choirs through the years – from Junior High to High School and College; on to Huntington Choral Society, LI Philharmonic and Masterworks Choirs, Brookhaven Choral Festival, Long Island Choral Festival, and Long Island Voices. Donna serves as the Chorus Manager for BAFFA, and she is also an active singer with both the organization and her church choir at Bayport United Methodist Church.

We had the opportunity to quickly speak with Donna about her time with BAFFA and her passion for song.

How long have you been part of the BAFFA family and why did you join the organization?

"About 30 years. I was looking for a local chorus in which to sing and saw an ad for singers."

 

What has been your favorite part of managing the BAFFA Chorus?

"Really getting to know the people. We have a wonderful group of singers from many different backgrounds, and it's nice to develop a relationship with them."

What has been one of the most challenging moments as far as working with the BAFFA Chorus?

"Recruiting someone to take over the Chorus Librarian position."

 

What is it about the BAFFA Chorus that makes it feel most like a community?

"Everyone is there for the same reason - to sing! We love to make music together and to share that music with our audiences."

What moment / experience sticks out to you the most as your favorite while you have been involved with BAFFA?

"I've had so many wonderful moments with the entire BAFFA organization, but I think having a member bring me a bouquet of roses to say "thank you" stands out."

 

What makes you want to return each year as the BAFFA Chorus Manager?

"I get to reconnect with my music family!"

 

What gets you most excited about working with the BAFFA Chorus and Chorus Director?

"Martha is a joy to work with! Her sense of musicality is unsurpassed, and she has an innate way of getting the best possible performance from her singers! Her music selections are always top notch!"
