ABOUT THE SHOW:

A collaboration of two artists' artistic work - Pottery and wood creations bridging ancient Korean moon jars and nature

ARTIST STATEMENTS:

As Earthenwood Artisans, Bob and Bobbie combine their talents to create unique, handmade, functional artwork using exotic woods and high-fire pottery. Their work reflects their shared deep appreciation for nature and their inspiration is drawn from all forms of artwork encountered during their many travels. They believe that the marriage of pottery and wood is a rare and beautiful pairing that truly brings their art to life.

ARTIST BIOS:

Earthenwood Artisans is a collaboration between Bobbie and Bob Dalpiaz, who use their respective talents in pottery and woodworking to create unique and functional art pieces.

Bob and Bobbie met while studying music education at Ithaca College. Bob later taught music in the Brentwood school district, while teaching music and art in the Sayville school district. As Bobbie honed her skills in hand building and wheel throwing, a lid broke on one of her pieces, which led Bob to experiment with woodwork. Through Trial and error and some basic classes with the L.I. Woodworkers Club, Bob became skilled at lathe work, and Earthewood Artisans was born in 1998.  Bob and Bobbie have showcased their work at various art shows in the tri-state area, and have been awarded Best Pottery multiple times, including at the Gallery North Art Show, Winner's Circle Gallery Show, and the Sayville Summerfest. They currently sell their work at the William Riis Gallery in Jamesport, Riboli Center in Stony Brook, Catbird Seat in Sayville, and Earth Speaks in Brooklyn.
